LAPHG welcomes its newest Board Member - DANNY WU. Professor Wu is Executive Directer over Campus Planning for California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He brings over 27 years of professional planning experience in both the public sector and the private sector to our Board.
ADDITIONALLY, at the highly successful Colloquium XVII - LAPHG President Marsha Rood announced she will be stepping down from her leadership role as of June 30, 2023. Marsha began her tenure as President in 2006 and led the organization with innovations that included annual Urban Planning Colloquia, Conversations with the Author, and establishment of the LAPHG Advisory Council. She oversaw seventeen planning colloquium events that engaged participants to critically consider past planning practices and outcomes in the processes of creating today’s plans. During the latter part of Marsha’s tenure the Advisory Council, comprised of experts from practice and academics, was a key source for insights and advice in preparing Planning Colloquia. When Covid hit, Marsha kept the educational mission of LAPHG going strong, championing online Conversations with Authors. More than half a dozen of these Conversation events have occurred and their accessibility ensured robust attendance. Post-Covid, Conversations with the Author are a regular feature of LAPHG programming. Marsha is passionate about people engaging with the subject matter of our events as she encourages all to express oneself and enter constructive dialogue. She has prefaced these LAPHG goals in her introductions to all LAPHG events. As President for seventeen years, Marsha leaves an indelible legacy of enthusiasm and intellect that propels LAPHG to further exploration of planning issues and analysis of historical precedents. We are pleased to have her lengthy experience as she will continue serving on the Board.
CONGRATULATIONS to Mark Herwick who will be taking over as the new President of LAPHG. Also congrats to Art Cueto, our new Vice-President and to Ken Farfsing who will serve as the new Treasurer.
